Fashion designer Sharbari Dutta dies after suffering cardiac attack in her bathroom

Renowned fashion designer from Kolkata, Sharbari Dutta was found dead under mysterious circumstances yesterday in her house. Dutta was found lying unconscious in the bathroom of her Karaya home last night. Police has registered an unnatural death case and post mortem to be conducted today. She was 63 when she breathed her last. She was not reachable on phone since morning, the family told PTI.  Primary investigation suggested that she died of a sudden cardiac attack at the toilet. Family members of Dutta said she was otherwise keeping fine and had no such chronic ailment.

Dutta pioneered in men’s wear and her designs have been worn by Vidya Balan and many other actors. She is the daughter of celebrated Bengali poet Ajit Dutta, known for his literary innovations in the post-Rabindranath era. Sharbari Dutta was a popular name in the costume designing industry for over past few decades, especially in the field of men's ethnic wears. In fact, it was Dutta who had introduced coloured Bengali Dhotis and designer Punjabis (kurta) to the the mainstream fashion world with her exclusive touch on bright colours along with embroidery works.
