On the last day of the festival, the tradition of Ganesh Visarjan takes place. The concluding day of the 10-day Ganesh festival is also popularly known as Anant Chaturdashi. Anant Chaturdashi is the last day of the festival when the tradition of Ganesh Visarjan takes place.
'Visarjan' means immersion of Lord Ganapati's idol that takes place in a river, sea or water body.
On the last day, the devotees come out in processions carrying the idols of their beloved God and perform immersion.
But this year due to coronavirus outbreak Ganesh Visarjan will not be celebrated in grand manner. The BMC has made arrangements for artificial visarjan spots. Citizens will not be allowed to do visarjan in natural spots on their own. The concerned ward offices will make arrangements for idol collection where citizens will give the idol and the civic body will immerse the idols by following all the rituals.
