Actor turned politician Nusrat Jahan, who recently married Kolkata-based businessman Nikhil Jain in an intimate ceremony in Turkey, hosted a grand reception in Kolkata on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by prominent personalities from the film industry, politics and business world, including her friend and fellow Actor-MP Mimi Chakraborty.

Dressed in a beautifully designed Maroon coloured velvet lehenga, detailed with golden embroidery on the borders, paired with heavy traditional jewellery including wrist full of Chooda (bangles), multiple layers of necklace, nose ring, and earrings, Nusrat looked every bit of an Indian bride.

Standing alongside Nusrat, Nikhil's outfit perfectly complimented his wife's dress. He looked dapper in a green Sherw detailed with tasteful floral design embroidered along his left shoulder.

Dressed in a dark green lehenga and turquoise blue dupatta, Mimi stood right next to her friend Nusrat like a loyal friend.

The couple even posed with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during the reception ceremony. Mamata, as usual, came dressed in her signature white saree.

During a brief interaction with media, Nusrat said, "Like any other girl who dresses up like a bride on her reception day, I feel exactly the same today. I also have jitters; I also am excited and slightly nervous as well.

Jahan and her actor friend Mimi took the political plunge this year and won from Basirhat and Jadavpur parliamentary constituencies, respectively. In June, the two took oath as members of the Lok Sabha.
