The first solar eclipse of 2020 will take place on June 21 and this will be an annular solar eclipse, during which the Moon will not be able to cover the Sun completely, which will cause a ring of fire to appear in the sky. The solar eclipse according to Time and Date will start at 9:15 AM IST and will end at 3:03 PM IST.  If you are planning to witness this live a few things need to be kept in mind for a safe view without damaging your eyesight.

Do not look directly at the sun.

Do not use homemade filters or ordinary sunglasses, even very dark sunglasses.

Use special-purpose solar filters, such as eclipse glasses or handheld solar viewers, to view the eclipse.

In any stage of eclipse, do not look at the sun through a camera, telescope, binoculars or other optical device, and never use solar filters with these devices, as concentrated solar rays will damage them and can cause serious eye injury.

Inspect your solar filter before use; if it is scratched or damaged, discard the filter.

Sunglasses of any kind, color film, medical X-ray film, smoked glass and floppy disks should not be used to watch solar eclipse.
