12 BJP MLAs suspended from house for a year for allegedly using abusive language against presiding officer

Twelve Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs were on Monday were suspended for a year in the Maharashtra Assembly for allegedly using abusive language against presiding officer Bhaskar Jadhav.

The motion to suspend the MLAs was moved by state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anil Parab and passed by a voice vote. The move came after a scuffle broke out between ruling and opposition members and Jadhav was allegedly roughed up by opposition members in the chamber of deputy speaker Narhari Zirval after the house was adjourned.

The two-day monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature began from today in Mumbai. 

The name of the suspended MLAs are as follows:

  4. Girish Mahajan
  5. Pollen weeding
  6. Ram Satpute
  7. Harish Pingale
