15 migrant workers dead after being run over by train near Aurangabad

At least 15 migrant workers died after being run over by goods train near Jalna in Maharashtra. All the labourers were returning to Madhya Pradesh and were sleeping on the tracks when the mishap took place at about 5.15 am, news agency PTI reported citing officials. five labourers, who were injured have been shifted to Aurangabad civil hospital. Unconfirmed reports also hinted that there were children among the group that was sleeping on the tracks.

"An accident happened near Karmad, Aurangabad when an empty rake of goods wagon ran over some people. RPF and local police are reaching spot to asses the situation. More details are awaited," Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South Central Railway (SCR) said. According to initial reports, the labourers were walking-along the train track on their way back to Madhya Pradesh. Later, they slept on the tracks and were run over by the goods train that was plying between Jalna and Aurangabad.
