Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis handed over the evidence of phone tapping in connection with the racket of police transfers in the state to the Union Home Secretary and demanded a CBI inquiry. When Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was asked about the phone tapping issue, he got angry. "Phone tapping can only be done with the permission of the Secretary of State for Home Affair." "Sitaram Kunte was the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department at that time. We all know that he is a simple and hard-working officer. Phone tapping can be done with the permission of the Home Department when there is a crisis of terrorist activity or incidents in the state." Therefore, it was necessary to get the permission of Sitaram Kunte before tapping the phone in this case. The Chief Minister has now directed Sitaram Kunte to prepare a report in this regard. It will come out soon, "said Ajit Pawar.
