Ajit Pawar reviews work on Pune Metro project

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday again reviewed the work on Pune Metro Rail project, a district official said.

Pawar, who is also the district's guardian minister, visited the office of the Metro Rail authorities at Pune station and took stock of the work on PCMC-Swargate corridor, the official said.

Maha Metro is developing two metro lines in Pune. The 16 km-long PCMC-Swargate corridor will have 14 metro stations.

Metro work was shut down during the Coronavirus crisis. Currently, it is facing shortage of workers so it is likely that the metro project will get delayed. Therefore, it is understood that Ajit Pawar had a discussion with the Metro officials on how to speed up the work.

Meanwhile, the guardian minister had last week inspected the Pune Metro work in the wee hours of the morning. During his last visit he was apprised about the progress of the project by Dr Brajesh Dixit, the managing director of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro).
