BJP targets Anil Deshmukh: "Maharashtra needs 'vigilant' Home Minister, not an 'inquiry' minister"

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday targeted Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh over 'pending enquires' into six different incidents and asked why there has been no progress.

Opposition BJP has slammed the Thackeray government over various issues including Dhananjay Munde, Sanjay Rathod and Mehboob Sheikh. In a series of tweet the saffron party targeted Anil Deshmukh and said that no matter what happens in the state, the response of the Home Minister is 'we will investigate'. 

"Maharashtra deserves a vigilant Home Minister, but we have got an 'inquiry-centric' home minister," said BJP, taking a jibe. 

The party further alleged that if you are from the ruling party, you can stay rest assured that any inquiry against you will never reach its logical conclusion and will only keep getting prolonged. Mehboob Sheikh, the state president of the Nationalist Youth Congress (NYC), who is accused of serious crimes like rape, was given a clean chit by the investigating Home Minister by saying, "We will investigate." The illegitimate relationship of the minister which caused a commotion in the state. The case of Dhananjay Munde is also pending. Despite serious allegations like giving false information in the election affidavit, rape, the Home Minister has kept the inquiry pending in this case as well, said the BJP. 

Home Minister Jitendra Awhad had allegedly called an engineer at his residence in Thane and thrashed him for criticizing him on social media. An inquiry is also pending in this case. 

BJP also demanded an answer on the investigations in the Serum Institute fire in Pune. It also raised questions when the power supply to the country's financial capital was suddenly cut off on October 12 after a grid failure affected homes and businesses. Further, it also claimed that the inquiry into the Bhandara hospital fire, where 10 newborns died, is also pending.
