BJP's Ashwini Upadhyay: Thackeray govt in Maha will collapse soon if NN Vohra Committee report is released

The ruling Shiv Sena and the opposition BJP are currently at loggerheads. The arrest of Republic TV chief editor Arnab Goswami has brought the two parties face to face once again. Against this backdrop, a senior BJP leader has once again made a big claim about the Thackeray government. BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay has claimed that the Thackeray government in Maharashtra will collapse soon if the report of the NN Vohra Committee constituted by the government headed by former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao is released. He also demanded that the report be released immediately.

A 100-page report was prepared by a committee headed by NN Vohra. The report contained shocking information about the relationship of political leaders and bureaucrats with notorious criminals like Dawood Ibrahim. Only 12 pages of the report were published. Meanwhile, Upadhyay has asked in his tweet when the information of these leaders will be released. The unpublished annexures to the Vohra Report were believed to contain highly explosive material.

The report contained several observations made by official agencies on the criminal network which was virtually running a parallel government. It also discussed criminal gangs who enjoyed the patronage of politicians, of all parties, and the protection of government functionaries. It revealed that political leaders had become the leaders of gangs. They were connected to the military.

Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and PMO, Upadhyay tweeted. He wrote, Supreme Court had directed the Central government to to take action on the Vohra Committee Report. However, even after 23 years, no action has been taken on the report of the Vohra Committee so far nor was it made public.
