Congress MP Rajiv Satav dies of COVID-19 at 46 in Pune

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Satav, has died of COVID-19 complications in Pune. . Satav was diagnosed with a new viral infection and was in critical condition. Satav, 46, a member of the AICC and considered a bulwark of his party in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions, had tested positive on April 22. He was later admitted to the city’s Jehangir Hospital and put on ventilator support since his condition worsened, said doctors. 

Expressing his anguish, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala took to Twitter to say he was stunned by the loss. A few days ago, Satav's corona test came back negative. However, his condition has deteriorated again due to pneumonia. Rajiv Satav had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 22 and was on ventilator support at a private hospital in Pune city after his health deteriorated. While his health was improving, Satav experienced some pain yesterday. Presently, Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, formerly Member of Parliament in 16th Lok Sabha from Hingoli in Maharashtra. He defeated Subhash Wankhede, Shiv Sena MP and a two time MLA. He has the distinction of wresting the Kalamnuri Assembly seat in Marathwada region from the Shiv Sena after 20 years in the 2009 elections.
