COVID-19: Huge crowd seen at Dadar market amid COVID-19 spike

Maharashtra reported 51,751 new COVID-19 cases and 258 deaths in the last 24 hours, the state health department informed on Monday evening. The number of corona cases in the state is increasing day by day.

Mumbai reported 6,905 new COVID-19 cases and 43 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total count of cases to 5,27,119. With 9,037 more recoveries, the total number of recoveries has gone up to 4,23,678. The city has 90,267 active cases currently.

Despite the strict restrictions imposed by the state government, the citizens are violating the rules. Despite Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's call to celebrate Gudi Padwa in a very simple way at home. The people in the market were seen flouting social distancing norms and many were seen without a proper mask. A massive crowd was seen at the Dadar vegetable market in Mumbai on Tuesday morning.

Even though the Mumbai Police and the Municipal Corporation are appealing not to crowd, seeing the crowd, the question has arisen as to whether there is any fear of corona among the citizens. The state government is considering a 15-day strict lockdown against the backdrop of increasing covid patients in the state.

The government has reached a final decision in this regard and an announcement regarding the lockdown is likely to be made soon. It is understood that the state government has decided to lockdown the state from midnight on April 15 to midnight on April 30.
