Prohibitory orders banning assembly of four or more people under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) have been imposed in Mumbai until July 15 in view of the coronavirus lockdown.

"Mumbai city continues to be threatened with the spread of COVID-19, it is considered expedient to issue prohibitory orders for restricting any presence or movement of one or more persons in public places or gathering of any sort anywhere including religious places to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 virus in the areas under the control of Commissioner of Police, Greater Mumbai," the order said.

Mumbai has been declared as the red zone due to maximum number of COVID-19 cases.

With 903 new patients being reported, coronavirus case tally in Mumbai increased to 77,197 on Tuesday while death toll rose to 4,554 with 93 fatalities, said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
