COVID-19: Mumbai Police commissioner warns against misuse of Color-coded vehicle stickers

Given the growing number of covid cases in Maharashtra, a statewide curfew has been imposed. Meanwhile, to limit vehicular traffic on Mumbai roads and to allow vehicles related to essential services with more ease, the Mumbai Police has decided to implement a colour code in the city amid Covid-19 restrictions.
 
In this regard, Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagarale visited Mulund, Anand Nagar, Dahisar Toll Naka area and took stock. He also warned of action in case someone takes advantage.

The Police Commissioner appealed to the citizens to implement this process by affixing stickers on private vehicles for essential services.

Moving out for essentials? Know your stickers-

  1. Red-For medical services vehicles
  2. Green-For eatables/food transport vehicles
  3. Yellow-For vehicles of essential workers

Where can I get a sticker?

These stickers will be provided free of charge by the Mumbai Police and will be used to navigate traffic conditions. The stickers, which should be six-inch circles, will also be made available at 'nakabandi' points and toll nakas for free.


The coding rule is valid only for Mumbai

The color coding rule will be valid only for Mumbai. Thane, Mira-Bhayander, Navi Mumbai Police Commissioners should draw up their own rules. 

The Mumbai Police will investigate whether the sticker is being misused. The Commissioner of Police clarified that legal action will be taken against those who take advantage of this stickers. Police started affixing stickers on all toll plazas in Mumbai from Saturday night.
