COVID-19: Pune to get 2.48 lakh covid vaccine doses a mere announcement by Mayor?

The Centre has only made announcement that Pune city will get vaccine doses. Due to shortage of vaccine doses many center's continue to remain close as the Centre failed to provide doses required for the city. Mayor Murlidhar Mohol had announced on Friday that Pune would get 2 lakh 48 thousand corona vaccines from the central government.

It was also said that Pune city would get 40 per cent, rural would get 40 per cent and Pimpri-Chinchwad would get 20 per cent vaccines. It is also being claimed that 1.25 lakh doses will reach the district on Sunday.

In reality, Pune Municipal Corporation has received only 30,000 vaccines doses. While 50,000 vaccine doses were received for rural areas in the district. The vaccination center's were closed temporarily on Friday due to shortage.

The authorities faced issues while distributing vaccine doses to center's as they already had less stock. Given the large number of covid cases in Maharashtra, the Centre should supply adequate doses to the state. The state government has blamed Centre of doing partiality as other states are being supplied doses as per their demand. The shortage of vaccine doses has increased the worries of common man. Many people are returning home without getting vaccinated after they saw vaccination center's closed.
