COVID-19: Sale of 'Remdesivir' injection in medical shops stopped; Pune administration's big decision

Remdesivir is considered a key anti-viral drug in the fight against COVID-19. The increase in COVID-19 cases across the country has led to a shortage of Remdesivir injection and people were seen lining up at the medical stores to procure the drug.

In Maharashtra's Pune, people were seen queued up outside medical shops to purchase the life-saving drug. Maharashtra is facing a shortage of Remdesivir injection due to an increase in Covid-19 cases.

Pune district administration has decided to stop the sale of Remedesivir injection from Medical shops. The administration has made it mandatory for the hospital to make arrangement for the vials for their covid patients.

The injections will be supplied to the patient directly from the hospital in Pune district, informed the Divisional Commissioner Dr. Saurabh Rao.

In the last few days in Pune, people have been queuing in front of medical shops to buy thr anti-viral drug. After relatives of covid patients rushed to medical shops with hospital prescriptions but many couldn't buy injections due to scarcity. Against this background the decision has been taken.
