Former CM and Maharashtra BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Monday slammed the Uddhav Thackeray government over it's decision to probe pro-India tweets posted by eminent personalities following singer Rihanna's comments on the farm laws.

In a tweet written in Marathi, Fadnavis expressed disappointment over Maha Vikas Aghadi government's decision to probe Bharat Ratna and Marathi pride Sachin Tendulkar.

"Disgusting & highly deplorable!Where is your Marathi Pride now!Where is your Maharashtra Dharma! We will never find such ‘ratnas’ (gems) in entire Nation who order probe against BharatRatnas who always stand strong in one voice for our Nation,"he tweeted.

In another tweet he wrote,"Has this MVA Govt lost all it’s senses!MVA should feel ashamed while using the word ‘probe’ for BharatRatnas! Actually, now it seems necessary to probe the mental state & stability of the ones who made such demand & of people who ordered probe against our BharatRatnas".

Pop-superstar Rihannas viral tweet supporting the farmers has caused a stir in India. The Maharashtra government has announced that it will investigate pro-India tweets posted by Indian celebrities following singer Rihanna's comments on the farm laws.

"It has been revealed that there were same posts by celebrities and at the same time. Hence it will be investigated why it has happened", Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been quoted as saying.

As per reports, this step has been taken following a complaint by the Congress. The Congress reportedly had demanded an investigation into whether the BJP had pressurised the celebrities to post their tweets.

Many eminent celebrities like Lata Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Akshay Kumar had tweeted in support of the Indian government.
