India is currently dealing with a devastating second Covid-19 wave that has swept through the nation, crushing the country's health infrastructure and overburdening frontline medical workers. "The technical issues with the Cowin app are putting millions at a disadvantage. Therefore, the Government of India should decentralize the vaccination app completely, "demanded Jayant Patil, State President of NCP and Water Resources Minister. Currently, the third phase of vaccination has started in the country and only those who register through the app are being vaccinated.

"There are a number of technical errors in the Cowin-app. There are many complaints such as delays for login and 'OTP'. It is very challenging for about 1.3 billion Indians to register on time from a single central app.  In such a scenario, the implementation system of such an important vaccination program is limited and the errors in it are very serious, "said Jayant Patil.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create a separate app for each state or allow the Maharashtra government to create its own app. The central government should consider this immediately, "he added.
