Former Commissioner of Police Parambir Singh had accused Anil Deshmukh that he had indulged in "malpractices" and asked suspended Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crores every month. Singh also accused Deshmukh of interfering in police investigations and involving in severe "malpractices".

The allegation caused a stir in the political circles of the state.

The Bombay High Court on Monday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to start a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into corruption allegations against Deshmukh by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner. The court also directed the agency to register an FIR if any cognizable offence is found. The court also stated that Deshmukh is the Home Minister and an impartial probe should be done by the police.

However, Anil Deshmukh is preparing to challenge the High Court order in the Supreme Court. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said what Sachin Vaze did and Parambir Singh did, Anil Deshmukh should do the same.

Deshmukh should directly take name and say that Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray asked him to do the recovery. This will help to expose names of 4 more beneficiaries involved in this case. Kirit Somaiya claims that I have proof of this. Besides, why are Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar afraid for CBI probe? He raised this question while giving interview to ABP Majha.

A team of CBI officers will arrive in Mumbai on Tuesday to investigate the corruption allegations made by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against Anil Deshmukh.
