Kolhapur Flood: General public will not get petrol-diesel in Kolhapur

There is possibility of floods in Kolhapur as Panchganga and Krishna rivers have crossed the warning level. Against this backdrop, the District Collector of Kolhapur has taken an important decision. The flood situation in Kolhapur may increase in the near future, so the district collector has decided not to provide petrol and diesel to the common man.

The main roads in Kolhapur are flooded. If torrential rains continue in the next few hours, the roads may be completely closed. As a result, the supply of petrol-diesel coming from outside in Kolhapur may be disrupted. This could lead to shortage of petrol and diesel. Therefore, from today, only essential service vehicles will be given petrol and diesel in Kolhapur. Ordinary citizens will not be given petrol-diesel. This will also restrict the citizens who go out without any reason.

Emergency service vehicles will be issued passes from the Collectorate. Only pass holders will have access to petrol or diesel at petrol pumps in Kolhapur. There is water logging in many places in Kolhapur at present. NDRF units are working to evacuate civilians to safer places. The Sangli-Kolhapur bypass highway has been closed due to continuous rains. The stream near the railway bridge at Udgaon has been flooded. The inflow of water into the low lying areas has also caused severe damage to agriculture.
