Mumbai's Lalbaughcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal has decided not to hold Ganeshotsav this year in wake of COVID - 19 pandemic which has gripped the state. Every year, during the eleven-day long Ganeshotsav festival, the Lalbaughcha Raja witnesses number of devotees flocking the neighbourhood area and standing in long queues to catch a glimpse of the 18-20 feet tall idol.
The turnout sees a wide array of celebrities including film personalities, politicians, sportspersons and industrialists. A total of 903 new COVID-19 cases and 36 deaths reported in Mumbai on Tuesday, according to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). At present, there are 28,473 active COVID-19 cases and 44,170 patients recovered from the virus. The city has reported 4,554 fatalities as of June 30.
