Local train services to resume soon? No request made by Maha govt to Railways yet

At present, only state and central government, insurance, bank and hospital employees are allowed to travel on local trains with valid ID cards.

Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and Mumbai Guardian Minister Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday said that the state government is seriously thinking of starting local train services for all by October 15.

However, no request has been made to the railways by the state government so far, senior railway officials said.

Regarding the resumption of local train services for general public, senior railway officials said we would need atleast two to four days for planning. The state government should apprise the railways in advance. No such request has been made by them yet. However, the railway administration is all prepared if the government orders to resume local services for general public. We will start the local trains within a day after receiving the request for the state authorities, the official claimed.
