Maha govt orders judicial probe into Parambir Singh's allegations

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday decided to appoint a commission to  probe allegations leveled by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. A retired High Court judge will chair the inquiry commission.

After the cabinet meeting, a meeting was held between Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, Skills Development Minister Nawab Malik and Congress state president Nana Patole. The decision t appoint a commission was made during this meeting.

Parambir Singh had alleged that Deshmukh had given a target of Rs 100 crore a month to Assistant Inspector of Police Sachin Waze. The matter was discussed at the meeting. It is understood that all the ministers in the meeting expressed the view that there was no need for Anil Deshmukh to resign. The commission will also check the veracity of the allegations. The inquiry will be conducted under the Commission of Inquiry Act.
