Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil on Tuesday announced a high-level inquiry into the allegations made by Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole. Patole on Tuesday on the second day of the Assembly session has made serious allegations regarding phone tapping. Nana Patole has alleged that his phone was tapped between 2016-17 and he was code named Amjad Khan.

"A high-level inquiry will be conducted and action will be taken," the Walse said, adding a report on it will be tabled in the House during the next Legislature session.
Patole also alleged that Union Minister Raosaheb Danve's PA's phone and MP Sanjay Kakade's phone was also tapped along with him. "Why was my phone number linked to a Muslim name and a drug peddler. Didn't the officials know I was an MP (at that time)?" he asked.

He also asked why a Muslim code name was given to him, was it to create disharmony? Was there any intention to create a rift between Hindus and Muslims in this way and to ignite the state through politics in the name of religion?

"This is an attack on an individual''s freedom," Patole said. He also asked on whose instructions was the phone-tapping done.
