Maharashtra: 22 members of same family test COVID-19 positive after attending wedding in Pune

In a shocking incident at least 22 members of a family have tested COVID-19 positive after attending a wedding in Pune.

As per the guidelines issued by the Pune district administration not more than 50 persons can attend a marriage – inclusive of those providing services such as cooks, waiters, and musicians.

The wedding was held in Satav Vasti of Wagholi in Pune. The authories after getting to know about 22 people tested Covid-19 positive, it had to send 48 close contacts into isolation. The area was also required to be declared a quarantine zone.
 
According to health authorities, all 22 who tested positive are asymptomatic and doing well.

“The family had been to a wedding in the Pune municipal limits over the weekend. Some of them started showing Covid-19 symptoms after returning to Satav Vasti. When tested over the last few days, 22 of them came positive,” an official from the Haveli block development office told the Times of India.

Pune district reported 87 deaths among COVID patients on Thursday, taking the death toll to 4,881. Also, 4,935 fresh cases were discovered; so far, 2,09,425 people have tested positive.
