In view of pandemic situation, Maharashtra government has called the two days state assembly's monsoon session on July 5 & 6 in Mumbai. Amid the pandemic the session will be held with stringent medical norms.

The decision by the state government to hold session for two days has been slammed by the opposition. BJP leader and ex-Maharashtra CM Fadnavis alleged the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) dispensation is trying to "run away" from the issues concerning the common people and also from the democratic process.

The former Maharashtra chief minister said BJP leaders walked out of the BAC meeting in protest against the government’s plan to hold the session for such a short duration. There is no place left for us to raise the voice of the common people. The two-day long session will be too short for us to raise various issues, the plight of people, farmers, students as well as the law and order situation in the state. This government has turned the democratic processes into a circus, he alleged.

In the year 2020, assembly session was held for two-days with stringent medical norms. Only selected individuals, other than MLAs and MLCs, who produce a medical certificate declaring they are COVID-19 negative, were allowed entry.
