Maharashtra police reunite 17 year-old runaway girl with her family in UP

A 17-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh who ran away from her home to work in Mumbai after being attracted by it's "glamorous lifestyle" has been reunited with her family by Maharashtra police. 

Senior Inspector of Kongaon police station Ganpat Pingle said that the girl from Jamalpur village in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district took a a bus and came to Bhiwandi town in Thane district on January 18.

He said that the police patrol team found the girl crying under a bridge at Rajnoli Naka in Bhiwandi. The officer said that upon questioning, the girl said that she was "impressed by Mumbai's galamorous life", wanted to work there and wanted to see film stars, so she had run away from her home in Uttar Pradesh.

He said that the girl was sent to a children's home and contacted Jamalpur police station in Uttar Pradesh, where the girl's family had lodged a complaint of kidnapping under Section 363 of the IPC. The officer said that the police then contacted the girl's family and reunited her with the family on Tuesday, the official said.
