It is mandatory to wear a mask in public amid the coronavirus pandemic period. However, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray had to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 for not wearing a mask.

Raj Thackeray on Friday afternoon was traveling to Mandwa by the new Mandwa-Mumbai RoRo. The MNS leader while travelling in the water transport moved out to the open section, removed his mask and lit a cigarette.

Tthe ferry also made an announcement while taking off  that it was a no-smoking vehicle and that masks were to be worn mandatorily.

One of the vehicle’s officers informed him that he had violated the mask request, and fined him Rs 1,000. Thackeray graciously paid the fine and apologised for smoking too.
