MNS demands Amazon.com Inc to incorporate 'Marathi' in the app option list

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Akhil Chitre has written to Amazon.com Inc founder Jeff Bezos to include Marathi as one of the language options in their apps.

In the letter posted on Twitter, the Chitre tweeted, "Final request with folded hands, hope you go through the facts put down in the letter and take necessary corrective steps accordingly to incorporate 'Marathi' in the app option list at the earliest."

The letter dated December 22, clearly mentions that even after several correspondence, representations, discussions, submissions and efforts from MNS in regards with incorporating Marathi, which is the mother tongue in Maharashtra, in Amazon India app option there has been no positive intent or initiative from the offices in India. "Instead, there has been provocation and legal intimidation from your end," writes Chitre.

"17th October 2020 after communicating with you via email we had received a quick and positive reply from your end and sooner even your legal team representatives contacted us and a meeting with intent for amicable discussion was held at Amazon Head office BKC, Mumbai where Amazon's legal representatives promised our delegation on record that within 20 working days Marathi language incorporation work will be initiated and soon the same would be highlighted in the company trading app," he said.
"But, later after 20 days when we tried to contact your officials, to our surprise your company filed false and frivolous cases against me and my party colleagues, and also filed several injunction suits in courts of Mumbai. It seems as these antics are just played by the Indian legal team of Amazon just to generate legal billings and garner funds from the company under the pretext of resolving the matter legally and just time killing for the sake of it, it in progress," Chitre added.
