Mumbai court summons MNS chief Raj Thackeray after party workers tear Amazon posters

The dispute between Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Amazon over the Marathi language case has now reached the court. Amazon has filed a private complaint against MNS president Raj Thackeray and MNS in Dindoshi court over Amazon's plea that their posters were torn by his party workers, directing him to appear before the court on January 5.

The court issued notice to Raj Thackeray and directed him to appear before the court on January 5. Since there is no Marathi language option on Amazon their posters were allegedly torn by MNS workers as Amazon app doesn't have the Marathi language option. As a result, Amazon lodged a complaint against Raj Thackeray and MNS.

Raj Thackeray-led MNS had recently written a letter to the Amazon chief Jeff Bezos asking for Marathi to be included as a language of communication in the Amazon app. The letter pointed out that regional languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam were being used in the app but not Marathi, which is the third widely-used language in India.
