Mumbai: Dharavi reports only 3 new COVID-19 cases

The coronavirus case tally in Dharavi area of Mumbai rose to 2,740 on Thursday with three new patients coming to light, said a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official.

The area, considered to be Asia's largest slum, has been recording a single-digit rise since more than 20 days. 

Of 2,740 COVID-19 patients recorded in the slum- dominated area, 2,383 have already recovered, he said.

Spread over 2.5 square kilometers, the area has a population over 6.5 lakh.

The area, known as Asia's largest slum, has now 97 active coronavirus cases, he added.

The civic body has stopped sharing the death toll from the area since June.
