Mumbai: Heavy rains warning on 13th and 14th June, BMC on high alert

Mumbai, the country's financial capital, has been receiving heavy rainfall rains since Tuesday. Due to heavy rainfall, Mumbai has received 565.2 mm rain, more than the monthly average rainfall of 505 mm, in the first 11 days of month of June. Mumbai has received 565.2 mm of rainfall in the last 11 days.

According to the latest information received from the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of 'heavy rains' in Mumbai city and some parts of the suburbs between June 13 and 14.

The IMD has issued 'heavy rain' warning for Mumbai on June 13 and June 14. Consequently, the fire department, and all disaster management units are have been asked to remain alert, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

In this connection, BMC has taken the following steps:

1. The Divisional Control Room and all other control rooms have been given ‘High Alert’ and all the systems are well equipped and alert.
2. All the Divisional Control Rooms of BMC are equipped with necessary manpower and equipment.
3. It has been ensured that 6 dredging centers of the rain water department and water dredging kits installed at various places are working. The diesel required for this is also provided by the local dredging set operators.
4. Flood and rescue squads of BMC Fire Brigade are deployed at 6 Regional Reconciliation Centers with the required manpower and equipment.
5. Officers of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Navy team of the Colaba Observatory have been notified and are also ready to assist as needed.
6. BEST (Transport and Electricity) and Adani Energy have been placed on high alert at all substations and their support teams are well-equipped and vigilant in case of power outage.
7. Adequate manpower is available at the main emergency control room and backup control room.
8. Officials from Police, Fire Brigade, Traffic Police, BEST, Education Department, Health Department, Transport Commissioner will be present in the main control room of the Municipal Corporation for co-ordination in case of any emergency.
9. The Assistant Commissioner, L Division has been directed to make arrangements for temporary evacuation of citizens from Krantinagar and other areas in case there is a rise in level of Mithi river and a team of NDRF has been deployed there for immediate relief.
11. Municipal schools, have been designated as temporary shelters for 24 divisions of the city and are equipped for immediate help.Live TV
