Mumbai Local: Allow vaccinated people to travel by local trains

The number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai has come down in the last few days. Besides, according to the Additional Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, corona vaccination both doses of more than 15 per cent citizens has also been completed. Therefore, the demand to allow such citizens to travel by local trains is now gaining momentum. The closure of the local trains for the last several days has put a lot of strain on the BEST administration. Citizens have to stand in line for hours and face huge mental and physical hardships. Therefore, it is being demanded that the citizens who have taken both doses of vaccine should be allowed to travel by local train.

Therefore, the traveling organization and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena have demanded that the citizens who have completed the vaccination should be allowed to travel by local trains. Mumbai has a large number of people coming from the suburbs for jobs. It prohibits others from traveling by local train except for essential services. Therefore, citizens have to pay Rs 100 to Rs 150 for a journey that costs Rs 20 and Rs 25 by local train.

While this demand is being made by the citizens, on the other hand, the Additional Commissioner of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Suresh Kakani has said that the Mumbai Municipal Corporation is trying to provide relief to those who have completed the vaccination. However, the decision regarding local trains will be taken at the state level. Because the situation in the surrounding cities has to be considered.
