Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Tuesday was discharged from the hospital, two days after she was admitted due to chest pain. Pednekar was hospitalised on Sunday after she complained of chest pain. Deputy mayor Suhas Wadkar said the chest pain was probably related to Covid recovery.

She had also took to Twitter and rubbished rumours of her death. Taking to Twitter, the Shiv Sena leader said: "I am very much alive and taking treatment at the Global Hospital. Also FYI ate Dal Khichdi some time back." "I am sure as a leading media group you all are aware of basic Journalistic principles Please bother to verify such news. That's least one can expect," she added.

Pednekar is a three-time corporator from Lower Parel in South Mumbai. Born to a mill worker, Pednekar had started out as a nurse before she joined Shiv Sena women wing in 1992 and was sent to work in Raigad and Sindhudurg districts in Western Maharashtra.

Pednekar became a corporator in Mumbai in 2002 and was re-elected in 2012 and 2017. During her three terms, Pednekar has held key positions in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) including as a member of the standing committee that scrutinises the civic agency’s financial transactions.
