In a shocking incident, a final year MBBS student from Sion hospital in Mumbai has tested COVID-19 positive on Saturday, days after taking second dose of coronavirus vaccine. As per doctors, after administration of both doses it is likley to take few days to build immunity.

MBBS student is 21-year-old who took second dose of Covishield vaccine last week.

He developed mild symptoms of the viral infection and underwent a test that came out to be positive. He was admitted to Seven Hills hospital on Saturday night, while several of his hostel mates, who also got vaccinated, are under quarantine.

Dr Balkrishna Adsul, incharge of Seven Hills hospital, said, “Not everyone who gets vaccinated will develop an immune response in a set time frame.”

He further added, it might take up to 45 days to build immunity response against the virus after it is administered. The medical student might have got infected around the same time as he received the second dose, he added.
