Nashik Oxygen Leakage: How did the oxygen leakage happened? Watch exclusive CCTV footage

Twenty-four people died in the oxygen tanker leakage incident at Dr Zakir Hussain Hospital in Maharashtra's Nashik district on Wednesday. But how did the incident occurred and how did the oxygen leak happened? A CCTV footage of the whole incident has been received by Lokmat.

The oxygen tanker arrived at the hospital around 11.55 pm. The pipe connection started at 12.03 pm  after 12 o'clock and at 12.12 pm the valve broke and oxygen started leaking. The oxygen supply to the hospital was cut off at 12.15 p.m. The fire brigade was notified at 12.16 p.m. At 12.25 pm the fire brigade arrived in just 9 minutes. The officials started spraying water to contain the leak at 12.26 pm. At 12.30pm the valve was found where the leakage was coming from. Attempts to contain the leakage was successful at 12.32 pm.

The oxygen supply to the hospital was restored at 12.34 pm. But in just 32 minutes, 24 patients died instantly. Nashik Municipal Corporation has installed CCTV cameras inside and outside the hospital, so the whole incident has become clear.

There was no negligence by the Corporation. A high-level committee has been set up to probe the incident," said Nashik Mayor Satish Kulkarni. Several states are facing a shortage of medical oxygen, especially Maharashtra.
