NCB's Sameer Wankhede and team attacked by 60 people during search operations

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede and his team of five officers were attacked by a group of drug peddlers in Mumbai's Goregaon area on Monday (November 23). Wankhede and his team were attacked by around 60 people. It is learnt that two NCB officials got seriously injured in the attack. The NCB officials have gone to arrest a drug peddler named 'Carry Mandis'. Mumbai Police reached the spot to bring situation under control and protect the NCB officials from the attackers. Mumbai Police have arrested 'Carry Mandis' and three of his associates and a caseaites and a case has been resgitered under IPC Sec 353 against the accused.

The NCB’s investigation into the Bollywood-related drugs case has led to the questioning of numerous stars, some of them having been arrested and houses of many being raided.  The latest had been the arrest of comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa. At the time of their arrest, he was the one to make the official statement.  Sameer Wankhede was the one who probed actress Rhea Chakraborty's drug conspiracy link in connection with actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Monday will also file its replies on bail pleas of comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa who have been arrested in connection with the alleged consumption of cannabis. The couple was sent to judicial custody till December 4 by Mumbai's Esplanade Court on Sunday.
