New Covid strain scare: Schools and colleges in Mumbai to remain closed till Jan 15

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on Tuesday extended its decision on keeping schools and colleges in Mumbai closed till January 15. The civic body cited concerns over a second wave of coronavirus. The civic body on Tuesday announced the decision that includes all government and private schools as well as colleges in the municipal area.

The circular cites fears over a possible second wave of coronavirus in the state. Earlier the BMC had announced that schools and colleges in the city would remain closed till December 31. This date now stands extended. 

Decision on reopening date for schools and colleges would be taken in due course. The body has noted that the pandemic is under control within the city limits. It has also given permission to the American Consulate School and other consulate schools in the city to reopen from January 18. No dates for other schools in the area have been shared as yet.
