Heavy rainfall in Maharashtra has created a flood-like situation in several districts of the state following incessant rain since Monday night.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in parts of Maharashtra for Thursday. It has also issued a red alert for the entire North Konkan area, including Mumbai and Thane.

Heavy rainfall has triggered water logging in parts of Mumbai, Pune, Baramati, Latur and Solapur.

In Pune, as many as 40 people were rescued in the flood-affected Nimgaon Ketki village in Pune district on Wednesday.

The National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) has deployed two teams in Maharashtra-one each in Latur and Solapur for rescue operations.
