Shiv Sena slams BJP over 'Tandav' controversy

The Shiv Sena, in its party mouthpiece Saamana, has attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party over the recent controversy surrounding Amazon Prime’s web series ‘Tandav’. Shiv Sena has strongly criticized BJP over Arnab's chat leak and Tandav issue.

The Saamana editorial claimed Shiv Sena had forced late painter MF Hussain to leave India for drawing objectionable portraits of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. While hitting out at the BJP, Sena said the opposition party’s ‘Tandav’ over Amazon Prime’s web series is absolutely fake.

Further the editoria said, it is good that BJP has filed cases against the producers and directors of 'Tandav' in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, but will the BJP file such cases against Goswami for insulting the martyrdom of soldiers, questioned the Shiv Sena.

The Maharashtra party said that if sharing of national information is anti-national and acting on such issues is an 'emergency-like situation', then their (BJP's) definition of nationalism needs to be examined.

An FIR has been registered against the makers and actors of web series 'Tandav' under sections 153 (A), 295 (A) and 505 (2) IPC at Mumbai's Ghatkopar Police station.

However Tandav makers have apoligized and thanked Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for its "guidance & support" and announced to implement changes to "address concerns".

Meanwhile, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has asked the central government to come up with a law to regulate content on the over the top (OTT) platforms.

Around five FIRs have been filed in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh against actors and makers of Tandav for 'hurting religious sentiments of Hindus'.
