Shubham Mishra arrested over rape threats to comedian Agrima Joshua

Stand-up comedian Agrima Joshua who had made some funny remarks on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue to be made in Maharashtra.  Over a year old video of Agrima's stand-up went viral on social media over the last two days following which she received a lot of criticism and flak. 

Following the backlash, Joshua removed her video and even apologized after Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh directed the police to take legal action against her for her remarks on Shivaji Maharaj. 

Shubham Mishra, a Youtuber Mishra on Saturday posted a video where he abused Joshua and also allegedly gave rape threats. 

Swara Bhasker, Kunal Kamra and many other social media influencers came out in her support and sought action against Mishra whose father runs a security firm in the city.

The Vadodara City Police have arrested one Shubham Mishra after he made a video, threatening to rape a stand-up comedian. The police’s prompt action was lauded by Bollywood celebrities who had been tweeting about the video all Sunday.

In a tweet on Sunday night, the Vadodara City Police said that legal process has started against Shubham. “Vadodara City Police took suo moto action in respect of an abusive, threatening video which was uploaded and shared on Social media by Shubham Mishra. We have detained him and initiated legal process for registration of FIR against him under relevent section of IPC and IT act,” the tweet read. They also shared pictures of Shubham from the police station after he was detained.

Who is Shubham Mishra Shubham Mishra?

According to Vadodara police, 26-year-old Mishra is a Class 11 dropout. He calls himself a 'social worker'. He has garnered publicity with his abusive language on trending issues and topics on current affairs. He has almost 3 lakh subscribers on YouTube.
