Maharashtra government had given green light to implement the 7th pay commission for Thane Municipal Corporation employees a year and a half ago. But it was not implemented by Thane Municipal Corporation. Finally, the general body meeting on Wednesday approved the proposal in this regard.

Now the employees of the corporation will be able to avail the benefit of the seventh pay. Due to this proposal, the salary of the employees of the corporation will be increased by 12 to 15 percent. But the civic body will have to bear a burden of more than Rs 114,79,00,000 crore per annum.

As per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, a committee was set up under the guidance of K P Bakshi, a retired chartered accountant, to decide on the revised pay scale for the state government and other eligible employees. As per the recommendation of the committee, the government decision was announced on 2nd August 2019 to apply this pay scale to the employees of other municipalities except Mumbai.
