A 55-year-old man was killed on Monday by a tiger in Bramhapuri division in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, a forest officer said. The incident occurred when the victim, identified as Vasudev Kodekar, had gone to collect firewood in the jungle of Kasabi Chak under Bramhapuri division, around 120 kms from here, said N R Praveen, Chief Conservator of Forest, Chandrapur Circle.

In March, a 67-year-old man was killed in a similar incident which triggered panic among residents of the area. Maruti Nagose was killed while he was collecting bamboo in Mamla Forest Range at around 1:30 pm, said VM Morey, divisional manager of Forest Development Corporation Limited. Tiger's menace has been a huge issue in the district with many people being killed by the big cat.
