Uddhav govt requests to extend deadline of PM's Crop Insurance Scheme

Maharashtra government has requested to extend the the deadline of the PM's Crop Insurance scheme (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)) till July 23.

"46 lakh farmers have applied for the scheme till date but several are still to complete formalities for the scheme", stated the letter. The last date for enrolment is July 15.
     
The scheme provides comprehensive crop insurance from pre-sowing to the post-harvest period against non-preventable natural risks at extremely low premium rates of 2 per cent for kharif crops, 1.5 per cent for rabi crops and 5 per cent for horticulture and commercial crops.
