Varsha Gaikwad: Schools to reopen for classes 5 to 8 from 27 Jan

The Maharashtra government has given permission to start classes 5 to 8 in the state from January 27. However the final decision has been left on the local administration.

Parental consent, teacher’s RTPCR test, etc., all the previous rules will continue to apply. School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that a proposal to reopen school has been put before Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Schools in the state government had been shut since March 2020 due to COVID-19 induced lockdown.

CM Thackeray gave nod to start school by implementing all the precautionary COVID-19 measures and following all the rules.

Gaikwad said, “Today, we had made a request to the Chief Minister to start classes from 5th to 8th. He has accepted the request. We will issue various SOPs in this regard in the near future.”
