The corona had wrecked a havoc in April and the number of patients and deaths were disturbing. But now corona’s second wave seems to be waning.

The number of patients have been declining for the last eight days. On Sunday, 3,104 new cases and 73 deaths were reported. The total number of patients were at 4,49,075 and the death toll was 8,142. Notably, 6,544 patients recovered from corona, the recovery is more compared to infected patients, giving a sigh of relief.

Nagpur district had the highest number of patients and deaths in April. This was due to inadequate medical facilities. But now with the declining number of patients, the situation is coming under control.

Wandering for oxygen beds seems to have stopped. Patients are relieved with supply of oxygen and availability of Remdesivir. Around 3,370 patients were registered for first time on March 17 this year. From April 7, more than 5,000 patients were registered on daily basis. On May 2, 5,007 patients were found. From May 3, the number of patients started declining. But the death rate is still the same.

1614 patients were found in city and 1,479 in rural areas. There were fewer tests in the city and rural areas on Sunday.

A total of 17,835 tests were performed, out of which 14,702 RT-PCRs and 3,133 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Out of this 1,614 patients in city and 1,479 in rural areas tested positive. 47 patients died in city and 15 in rural areas. So far, the city has recorded 3,17,909 active patients and 4,921 deaths. In rural areas 1,29,819 patients tested positive and 2,056 patients died.
