4 arrested including ward boy in Remdesivir black marketing racket

Nagpur, April 21

The Sitabuldi police arrested four youths including a ward boy involved in black marketing of Remdesivir injections. They were selling the injections at around 10 times the cost. The police also recovered two vials of Remdesivir from them. The accused Shubham Sanjay Pantavne (24) is a resident of Sevagram, Wardha. Pranay Dinakrao Yerpude (21) Manmohan Naresh Madan (21) is the Sangh Building Mahal.

Shubham works in Dhantoli's Neuron Hospital. He was working in the hospital from last four-five years and used to live in Ramdaspeth. He was involved in black marketing of Remdesivir along with his partners. Shubham and Pranay are college students. Shubham’s number was shared by a chemist. Pranay was in contact with a young woman.

This woman was approached by the police informer for Remdesivir. The girl asked Pranay to provide Remdesivir. Pranay spoke to Shubham. He agreed to give Pranay a Remdesivir injection for Rs30,000. The woman told the police informer that the injection will cost Rs35,000, while the MRP of the injection was around Rs3,500. After the informer agreed, Shubham called Pranay near Lokmat Square to take Remdesivir. At 11 pm on Tuesday night, Pranay reached near Lokmat Square with Manmohan. He had two Remdesivir.

Acting on the information provided by DCP Zone 4 rider PSI Mahesh Kurewad, the Sitabuldi police had laid their trap near Lokmat Square. They caught all three red handed, and recovered booty worth Rs 88,000 from them, including two Remdesivir and two mobiles. Shubham informed that he got the Remdesivir from a friend. He refused the involvement of the hospital in the racket. Police are investigating the role of Shubham's friend and the girl. The accused have been taken into custody for a day. API Sherki is investigating the case under the guidance of PI Atul Sabnis.

20 accused arrested in 5 days

Within the last five days, the police has busted five Remdesivir injection racket. On April 15, on the information provided by police commissioner Amitesh Kumar, 15 Remdesivir injections were seized and a doctor and three ward boys were arrested. After this, the police from Jaripatka, Wathoda and Sakkaradara caught the black marketers of Remdesivir.

Around 20 accused were arrested under the operation, most of whom are ward boys and medical stores employees. Only the police are proactively stopping the black marketing of Remdesivir.
