The Covid infection, which was fading in the months of February and March has resurfaced gigantically in April. Looking at the intensity, experts are of the view that the third wave could also be equally devastating.

Against this backdrop, the district administration held a meeting on Saturday to discuss the issue. It was decided to set up a 900-bed Jumbo hospital and 25 oxygen plants at Mankapur Sports Complex.

Guardian minister Nitin Raut directed the authorities to prepare a master plan to tackle the third wave of Covid. District collector Ravindra Thakare, municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B, ZP CEO Yogesh Kumbhejkar, director of Directorate General of Information and Public Relations Hemraj Bagul, dean of GMCH Dr Dr Sudhir Gupta, Dean of IGGMCH Dr Ajay Keoliya, medical superintendent Dr Avinash Gawande, deputy director, Health Department Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, district surgeon Dr Devendra Paturkar, president of IMA Dr Sanjay Deotale, all the officers of Covid Task Force were present.

The availability of beds will depend on the availability of oxygen. Therefore, cryogenic oxygen plants would be set up at ten places in the district. Around 5,000 jumbo cylinders should be made available for corona patients and 1000 oxygen concentrators would be procured. Therefore, work with the objective of separate oxygen supply in each major hospital and meet the target of 10,000 tests per day, Raut said. Covid Care Centers in each tehsil will be upgraded. Pay attention to this to reduce stress on GMCH, Mayo AIIMS and other private hospitals in the city.

Ambedkar Hospital, ESIC Hospital and Haj House in Indore area, will be upgraded as well as Koradi, Kamptee, Ramtek, Mouda, Umred and Katol hospitals in rural areas will also be upgraded. The state government will soon direct local doctors in urban and rural areas to take care of home quarantine patients. They will also be paid honorarium for this.

Excessive use of Remdesivir and some other drugs have shown side effects in many patients. Therefore, action will be taken against doctors who do not follow the treatment protocol. District collector Thakare said that now a team of officials will visit villages to increase awareness about vaccination and ensuring mass vaccination. However, he also suggested that attention be paid to the health facilities and infrastructure in the village. Strict action against lab owners and staff who issue bogus RT-PCR report and those involved in black marketing of Remdesivir.

People roaming without reason

The police commissioner Amitesh Kumar has ordered to seal the district boundaries and has appealed to the municipal commissioner that people found roaming without reason should be quarantined for 14 days.
