Anganwadi workers in a fix due to defunct app

Nagpur: Jan 6

The Anganwadi workers were provided with mobile and they had to file around 10 daily reports about their daily routine and work through an app. But the app provided by the administration has stopped working since September and their responsibility has come over supervisors.

The supervisors are insisting that they should file online report through app and due to this Anganwadi workers are in a major fix, as they have to pay penalty.

Moreover the workers have not been given proper training for the app. The Anganwadi workers organisation has alleged that they are being threatened to resign from the job, if they are not able to fill up the details on the app.

Some Anganwadi workers are filing their reports from internet cafes to save their jobs and pay for it out of their own pockets.

Anganwadi workers have to fill 10 types of reports daily. The Department of Women and Child Development provided mobile phones to the workers for conducting survey, weight, vaccination, nutrition, THR, CBE, report of teenage girls, etc. The app was called ‘Rapid Reporting System ICDC’.

The Anganwadi workers were filling monthly MPR. However, since the app has not been operational since September, they provide manual data of Anganwadi to the supervisors. It is the job of the supervisor to fill in the data provided by the workers online. But, the supervisor are putting the burden on Anganwadi workers.

Anganwadi workers’ organisations said that in the past, a register use to come every month from the office to fill in the information, but now they only have to buy it.

As the mobile app is not functioning, we manually fill the Anganwadi MPR and give it to the supervisor. But, supervisors are forcing us to fill in the data online. The workers are saying that this is not right and opposing it.

Currently work through mobile is not happening. Supervisors are required to fill out this report. As the app is not functioning, follow up is being taken on the administration level.
