Anti-encroachment team collects Rs5.33 L penalty

The NMC anti-encroachment squad has been working full swing over encroachment activities in the city for the past whole month. Apart from NMC’s enforcement department zonal teams are carrying out anti-encroachment work. During the drive, the NMC enforcement department collected a fine of Rs5,32,900 from encroachers in the last 17 days. This amount does not include the charges to demolish dilapidated buildings.

NMC enforcement team collects fine from the encroachers on the spot right before they start the demolishing work. Apart from this fine is also charged to grant deferment request by the encroachers. Fine is also collected while returning the items seized during the task. From a minimum of Rs 500 to upto 25 per cent of the item’s value is recovered as fine while returning the seized item. In this way, NMC anti-encroachment team recovered around Rs5,32,900 in fine through the last month.

Anti-encroachment team recovered Rs7,500 on January 19, Rs15,000 on January 20, Rs25,000 on January 21, Rs 9,500 on January 22, Rs29,500 on January 25, Rs32,500 on January 27, Rs23,500 on January 29, Rs17,000 on February 1, Rs 38,500 on February 2, Rs73,400 on February 3, Rs57,700 on February 4, Rs 57,700 on February 5, Rs 45,200 on February 8 and Rs 41,500 on February 9.
